Dr. Karol Darsa spoke with CBS-8 about how to process the intense emotions emerging after the events in Washington D.C. in the days leading up the Joe Biden’s inauguration. She shared some of her thoughts on how to heal from the Capitol riot as well as how to support your child throughout this event.
Dr. Darsa’s Tips:
Don’t Take It Personally:
A global pandemic, a tumultuous election, and a volatile economy will cause stress. It’s not your fault.
Stay Kind:
It’s not the time for “an eye for an eye” positions. Start with the peace inside yourself.
Take Care of Yourself (Daily!):
Eat nutritious foods, exercise, sleep well, and reduce screen time.
Express Your Feelings:
Reaching out to others, journaling, or other art forms can all help process emotions and help you find peace.
Find Professional Help:
Some conditions are best treated with professional guidance. Don’t be afraid to ask for support.
